Prof. P. C. KREIJGER (1923-2015)

It is with deep regrets that we inform you that Professor P. C. KREIJGER, Honorary Member and former RILEM President, passed away on 12 July 2015. 

 

Professor P. C. Kreijger was born in 1923. After the war, he graduated at the Delft University of Technology. In 1956 he joined the TNO Institute of Technology for Building Materials and Structures where, in 1964, he became Head of the Building Materials Section and, in 1967, Vice-Principal. In 1969, he was appointed Professor Extraordinary and in 1971 full Professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology in Materials Science and Engineering. He retired in 1984 after devoting 35 years on research on all types of building materials with special attention to concrete technology.

 

Professor Kreijger has written more than 120 papers and held many lectures on invitation both at home and abroad. He has been a member and the chairman of many national and international committees, several of them RILEM technical committees. He served the Dutch section of RILEM from 1948 and has been a RILEM Delegate for 14 years. In 1976 he served as President of RILEM and was awarded honorary membership in 1982. He received a certificate of appreciation for his contribution to the Science Programme of NATO in 1980 and in 1985 the commemoration Medal of the Dutch Standardization Institute.
