Abstract: Different applications of a large number of waste materials were presented. Rubber obtained from used tires is applied in concrete reducing its weight and resulting in avoiding premature emergence of fissures. Waste materials like fly ashes could be applied in improving the effect of concrete for confining radioactive waste.
Burnt rice husk and residual vegetal fibres showed good results in reducing weight and thermal conductivity of concrete and mortars. Sewage sludge ash or dried sewage sludge is applied as pozzolanic addition or as filler in concrete. Drill cuttings from oil industry could be stabilised with different binders.
