Abstract: This paper discusses the aspect of structural inspection during maintenance of a tunnel.
Based on local practice and literatures such as ITA WG reports, herewith a proposal has been raised to level structural inspections as routine inspection, periodic inspection, specified inspection, and special inspection. Suggestions on actions to be taken for an inspection include observation, measurement, detection, sampling and testing, and experiment when required. Techniques to facilities on-site investigation are briefly discussed.
