Abstract: This paper deals with the impact of the material and environmental variability on the evolution of temperature in concrete structure at early age. Analyzing the sources of this variability such as the heat of hydration of cement, the quantity of cement per cubic meter of concrete, the time of striking of the formwork and the external and initial temperature, one can predict the possible variations of the maximal temperature and the maximal rise of temperature in the core of a massive structure and of the maximal difference of temperatures between the core and the skin of this structure. The results of these simulations show large variations. It implies that a probabilistic approach of this problem and also experimental data are needed to feed it.
