Abstract: Efforts to improve service life of concrete have focused on producing a denser, more impermeable matrix via reductions in the water to cementitious material ratio and (or) the addition of fine (reactive) materials. In this aspect, the ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) is belong to this category. This paper introduces the possibility of using Rice husk ash (RHA) to produce a more environment-friendly UHPC with all the advantages of the more traditional UHPC-mixtures. The results show that the RHA can be used with and without silica fume (SF) to produce UHPC. The maximum cement replacement percentage can reach to 40% by using the combination of RHA and SF. Especially, the blend of 10% RHA and 10% SF can be used to produce UHPC even with cement, CEM III/B 42.5 N containing 69% slag. The percentage of Portland cement in this case was only 25% by weight of total binder. This also contributes to the sustainable development and has economic advantages for the concrete industry, particularly in developing countries.
