Abstract: The authors cut RC beams deteriorated by corrosion from a rigid frame structure. The structure spends over 37 years period time. We run flexural test to the beams to evaluate the structural performance. Visual inspection and detailed inspection was conducted before and after the test, respectively. According to the different level inspection data, the performance of the RC beams was evaluated by the FE analysis. Influence of inspection level to the accuracy of FE analysis and applicability of FE analysis to quantity evaluate deteriorated RC structure was also investigated.
Analysis results based on a detailed inspection agree with the test results and show good accuracy to evaluate the structural performance of corroded RC beams, but the deformation performance such as changing of stiffness can not evaluated. Some results based on visual inspection show various estimation of the structural performance. Estimation of deterioration by visual inspection is important and evaluation under some scripts is required in analysis based on visual inspection data.
