Abstract: The effect of using steel fibers in the critical end zone of reinforced concrete (R/C) columns having spliced reinforcement at the column base, on the seismic and static load response of the columns was experimentally and analytically investigated. A general analytical scheme for evaluating the flexural strength capacity and ductility of the columns was developed. The analysis takes into account the effect of fiber reinforcement on the bond strength degradation by incorporating a general local bond stress-slip law. Results predicted by the analysis showed good agreement with experimental data. A limited parametric study was undertaken to evaluate the influence of different design and strength parameters on the column response.
