Abstract: A scale factor model originally proposed to simulate the effect of curing temperature and pressure on cement hydration kinetics is further developed into a generalized format in this study. The generalized scale factor model can be used to simulate several influencing factors on cement hydration kinetics in addition to curing condition, such as mixing intensity and the addition of chloride admixtures. Moreover, the model can be used to simulate the time evolution of many different properties of cement-based materials that are closely related to hydration kinetics, such as phase content, viscosity (before setting), and ultrasonic transmission velocity. Finally, when combined with the maturity method, the generalized scale factor model can be used to simulate the property evolution of cement-based materials not only at isothermal and isobaric conditions, but also at variable temperature and pressure conditions.
