Abstract: The description of flow behaviour of SCC is presently done in very many ways. But most of the methods are empirical, based on experience instead of true scientific values. A viscometer is a very useful tool and can be used to measure the flow behaviour of cement-based materials. It returns results in fundamental values; yield value (Pa) and plastic viscosity (Pa·s). Tests have been carried out at the Icelandic Building Research Institute, to relate the most common empirical test methods to the true scientific values. This is a part of an ongoing European project, called SCC-Testing.
