Review: ACCTA 2016, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

The International Conference on Advances in Cement and Concrete Technology (ACCTA 2016) was held from January 27^th to 29^th in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The conference was organised by the BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing in cooperation with the University of Dar es Salaam, the University of the Witwatersrand, and the University of Zagreb.

The conference was opened by Conference Chair Wolfram Schmidt followed by a welcome note in the name of RILEM given by Mark Alexander. The importance of international cooperation in research was emphasised. Mark Alexander introduced into recent activities in RILEM that can help letting researchers from the African continent participate more intensively in international research.
