Joint Committee on the GLOBE Consensus (JCGC) for Sustainable Development of the Built Environment

The recently established Joint Committee on the GLOBE Consensus (JCGC) invites you  to participate in the JCGC workshop planned for April 25-26, 2022, at EPFL, Switzerland.

The workshop will be a follow-up on the primer webinar event held on January 24, 2022 – during which many very good comments and questions were collected, providing valuable input as baseline for the planning and preparation of the JCGC workshop on April 25-26.

The objective of the JCGC workshop is to prepare a high-level policy advice note, which we will bring into the context of COP27, in order to support the global community on how best to direct and coordinate efforts ensuring sustainability of the built environment at global scale.

Specific foci at the workshop will be directed on the following points:

•  How to integrate “low carbon” throughout the design/construction process
• What are the low hanging fruit, things which can be done now
• How does the situation in global South differ from Global North

• Incentives to lower carbon, including carbon tax, and standards
• Ontology of existing technologies, how to compile / update it
• Training needs in the field

As mentioned during the Webinar in January, the JCGC workshop in April will be with physical attendance (assuming that Covid will permit). To ensure a real “workshop” event with an efficient exchange of ideas and perspectives, the maximum number of attendees will be limited to around 50.
