International RILEM Symposium on Concrete Modelling - ConMod '08
SCOPE Concrete Modelling 2008
ConMod'08
Recent developments in computer engineering have largely contributed to improving the ability of scientists and engineers to model complex problems.
Over the past decade, research groups all over the world have taken advantage of these improvements to develop new models specifically devoted to the description of the micro-structural properties and durability of concrete.
The aim of CONMOD08 is to review the most recent developments in the field of numerical modelling specifically applied to the description of the microstructure of hydrating cement systems and to the prediction of the transport properties and durability of concrete.
Papers are solicited on topics ranging from mathematical descriptions of the hydration reactions, theoretical approaches to describe the transport of fluids and ions in reactive porous media, and deterministic and statistical models to predict the behaviour of cement-based materials.
Contributions on innovative numerical techniques and on the use of experimental techniques to validate models are strongly encouraged.
CONMOD08 will be the second of a series of symposia that started in Quebec City in 2006 that is specifically devoted to the development and applications of numerical models for the simulation of microstructure, and the prediction of the transport properties and long-term performance of concrete.
Conference Topics
The contributions to this symposium should deal with Modelling of Concrete related to microstructure, transport and durability. The following topics will be included:
- Virtual modelling
- Multi-Scale models
- Degradation modelling
- Durability models
- Microstructure development
- Transport models
- Micro-crack formation
- Volume changes
- Interface properties
- Material property development
