II Latin American Congress on Timber Structures & II Ibero-Latin American Congress on Wood for Construction, Junín, Argentina
The “II Latin American Congress on Timber Structures” and the “II Ibero Latin American Congress of Wood in Construction” will provide a forum for international scientists, engineers, companies, and constructors to present the latest advances, technical knowledge, continuing research and solutions for using timber in constructions and its preservation and restoration. Posters about each topic will be exhibited. The selected technical and scientific articles will be orally presented. Each presentation will be followed by a short time for questions and comments.
The articles will be limited to the following topics:
1- Genetic improvement- Timber production for construction-Characterization
Classification of wood; physical properties; mechanical properties; nondestructive testing; standardization.
2- Wood industrialization
- Processing: Use of wood and its derivatives; wood processing; adhesives; panels; use of waste from the timber industry; recycling; safety at work in the timber industry.
- Glued laminated wood (Glulam): Classification; physical properties; mechanical properties; testing; standardization; applications.
- Cross laminated timber (CLT)
- Machinery and equipment.
3- Bamboo uses in construction
Uses as building material; bamboo structures; use of bamboo fiber as reinforcement in composite materials.
4- Timber structures
Structural analysis; Theoretical, Computational and Experimental Methods.
Structural behavior; joints of wooden pieces; structural systems; Timber bridges; Timber roofs.
5- Timber architecture
Wood construction systems; covers; room; floors and interiors; historic and traditional buildings; sustainable wooden architecture; projects, design and construction of structures.
6- Durability, preservation and restoration
Treatments; drying; natural durability; deterioration; conferred durability; protection; life cycle analysis; performance evaluation; monitoring and control of structures; maintenance; reinforcement; restoration. Preservation of heritage structures in wood.
Official Languages:
Spanish, Portuguese and English
Title and Abstract in Spanish or Portuguese, and in English will be requested. The full paper and oral presentation will be in one of the official languages, but no simultaneous translation will be provided during the Congress.
